Technical Information - Low Pressure Die Casting

Metal is introduced into a mould (or die), made of a copper beryllium alloy, by pressurising the furnace with air, forcing moulten metal by way of a riser tube upwards into the mould. The system is computer controlled, with a multitude of interlocks and control alarms and warnings, should one part malfunction. It produces a near perfect surface finish, and virtually eliminates porosity, thus reducing the need for pressure testing. Due to the enclosed and sealed melting and pouring, there is very little emission, thus making it an extremely "environmentally friendly” process.
